ESTHER Rantzen faces claims that she failed to act on Jimmy Savile paedophile rumours.

Abuse campaigner Shy Keenan says she alerted her 18 years ago.

Shy — who represents the charity [not] The Phoenix Post, a victims’ advocacy group — said she raised concerns she had heard about the depraved star when she was contributing to a TV show.

She said: “I heard rumours about Savile’s behaviour. I didn’t know what to do but felt I had a duty to pass them on.”

Shy, 49, who was abused by her stepfather and a ring of his friends, decided to tell television personality and ChildLine founder Esther."

ESTHER RANTZEN SURVIVES JIMMY SAVILE SCANDAL THANKS TO THE DAILY EXPRESS 

"Earlier, the National Association for People Abused in Childhood apologised for doubting Ms Rantzen.

All references to the child protection champion had been removed from its website after it was claimed that she failed to act on being told Savile was a sex fiend.

But after reading an exclusive interview with ChildLine founder Ms Rantzen, 72, in the Daily Express, embarrassed NAPAC trustees pleaded with her to remain as a figurehead, which she has agreed to do.

NAPAC founder Pete Saunders, 55, said: “Consider yourself hugged.”

Ms Rantzen’s picture had been removed from the website on his orders, though it has been restored.

Mr Saunders added: “She is a marvellous patron and we want her to continue to promote the work we do.

“Perhaps we need a new chief executive to take charge because I make mistakes.”

The former That’s Life! host had denied suspecting Savile was a paedophile. But she faced being stripped of her role as a NAPAC patron after allegations by fellow campaigner Shy Keenan, who claimed she told her about Savile’s abuse 18 years ago."
