Paedophile [sic] who slept on streets of Portsmouth returns to jail
"A PAEDOPHILE [sic] who failed to alert the authorities about where he was living is back behind bars after being caught talking to a young girl.
LP, 48, was sleeping rough in Portsmouth after being released from prison on licence when he was caught.
He had been out of jail for about a month after serving a six-year sentence with an extension of five years for a number of counts of sexual intercourse with a girl aged under 16.
One of the conditions of his release was to notify the relevant authorities as to where he was living.
But he failed to do so – and was then spotted trying to talk to a young girl.
Simon Moger, defending, said: ‘He can’t get an address and he left Wandsworth in September of this year and was homeless, sleeping rough between mid-September and when he came to the police’s attention in Portsmouth.
‘That appears to be the reason for the number of offences that he has.’
P – who has 36 previous convictions for 93 crimes – was jailed for 30 weeks.
He was ordered to pay £100 to a fund for victims of crime at Portsmouth Crown Court.
Judge Sarah Munro QC, sentencing, said: ‘You are clearly totally unwilling to follow the rules.’[woooshhh]
The judge added: ‘Even if you do lead a life which means you do travel round the country, your obligation remains to go into a police station and say you are in the area.’"
