Justice 'should favour victims'
"Justice Secretary Chris Grayling wrote a foreword to the report, entitled Rebalancing the Scales
"The scales of British justice should be tipped more towards victims of crime, an independent report endorsed by Justice Secretary Chris Grayling has said today.
Conservative MP Priti Patel will launch the report, Rebalancing the Scales: Prioritising the Victims of Crime in the Criminal Justice System, at an event in the House of Commons today.
The seven chapter report draws on victims' charities to look at the way crime victims are treated and the services made available to them.
Mr Grayling, who wrote a foreword to the report, said: "Too often victims tell me that they are treated as an afterthought by the justice system. This is unacceptable, and I am working hard to make sure that victims' voices are heard and that criminals pay more for their crimes."
