Japan Cartoonists Association, Others Oppose New Child Pornography Revision Bill

"The Japan Cartoonists Association, as well as the Japan Magazine Publishers Association and the Japan Book Publishers Association, have all posted statements of opposition to the bill containing a proposed new amendment to the country's current child pornography laws. Japan's ruling party, the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), along with co-sponsors New Komeito Party and the Japan Restoration Party, submitted the amendment to the lower house of the National Diet of Japan on Wednesday.

The parties look to make possession of child pornography a crime. The amendment would make possession of sexual images of individuals under 18 illegal, with a fine of 1 million yen (about US$10,437) and less than a year in jail if the subject is found to have the images for "the purpose of satisfying sexual curiosity." The bill would also provide for greater measures to prevent child pornography from being transmitted online."

Tourist jailed for child sexual abuse [sic] cartoons

"A German tourist has been jailed for ten months, after Customs officers found more than 35,000 child sexual abuse [sic] images on his laptop.

MB, 42, was arrested when he arrived at Christchurch Airport from Germany on March 6 this year, carrying a laptop containing Japanese Manga cartoon images of child sexual abuse [sic] .

B indicated to Customs officers that he was an author who receives the images from clients to turn into electronic books for retail sale."

Crown to seek jail term for cartoon porn importer

"The Crown will seek a jail term for a German visitor who arrived at Christchurch Airport with thousands of images of child abuse cartoon [sic] pornography on his laptop computer.

Markus Balzer, 42, from Kassel, Germany, today pleaded guilty to the charge of importing the objectionable material and was remanded in custody by Judge David McKegg for sentencing on May 16.

After the Christchurch District Court hearing, prosecutor Marcus Zintl said the Crown would be asking for a jail term to be imposed. The maximum penalty for the charge under the Customs and Excise Act is five years’ imprisonment."

Sex offender flouted ban by driving girls to KFC

"SEX offender GR s has been back in court after driving two teenage girls to a KFC – despite being banned from contact with children.

"Paedophiles could be given ‘virtual child pornography’ in order to reduce instances of child abuse and the market for child porn, two sexologists say in Monday’s Trouw.

CB, 36, of Monett, pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge James C. England to possessing obscenity.

On Aug. 8, 2011, B’s wife contacted the Monett Police Department and reported that she had found files she believed to be child pornography on a computer used by her husband. Police officers executed a search warrant at B’s residence and seized his computer."
