Girls ‘being pressured to look like porn stars’ by boys growing up on pornography

"Pressure: Girls feel like they have to resemble porn stars [yuk]

Girls are under increasing pressure to look like porn stars due to the negative impact pornography has had on boys’ idea of what the opposite sex should look like, it has been claimed.

Young women are trying to live up to unattainable ideals of boys who want their girlfriends to look like XXX stars, Helen Porter, a member of the Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL), argued.

‘The desirable body image has become more extreme, they are all trying to have a narrow waist, long, slim legs and big boobs. That’s the desirable thing,’ she said."

Study: Sexual activity is rare among young adolescents

"Contrary to popular belief [?], sexual activity among very young adolescents is not more prevalent today than in the past, says a report in Pediatrics magazine.

The study also finds that sex among the same group is frequently involuntary.

In spite of public perception, sexual activity is exceedingly rare among the youngest adolescents, ages 10 to 12, a new report shows. Among older teens, however, sexual activity remains common."

Police chief: If you don’t curb porn, number of sex crimes will rise

"One of the highest-ranking police officials in Scotland has warned that if pornography's effects on the culture are not checked, it will “result in a higher number of victims of serious sexual crime.”

Assistant Chief Constable Malcolm Graham said porn is warping the perceptions of a generation of British children, making young boys more likely to assault girls.

“There is academic evidence [quote, please] coming out to suggest [pornography] is having an impact on how young men in particular perceive relationships and women,” he said.

“We need to change the attitudes, behavior, and perceptions of men to make a difference to that,” he stated. “We also need it make it clear to young people that what they are seeing on a computer screen isn’t real life.” [no shit, Officer Sherlock]"

Naked truth about porn on television

"It does not make it so to assert that porn is as addictive as heroin or cocaine and it takes only five minutes of exposure for a child to be irreparably harmed. The editors of the diagnostic standards manual for American psychologists and psychiatrists do not include pornography as an addiction, evidence that this claim is at least contested, not established fact."

Utah mom takes stand against pornography before Legislature

"SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Legislature took a step toward regulating sexually explicit images, acknowledging that such images may cause long-term harm to unsuspecting viewers.

The Senate Health and Human Services Committee approved a joint resolution on the matter Monday that "recognizes the strong negative impact of gateway pornography on brain development in children, and urges parents and concerned citizens to consider ways to mitigate its effects," according to the proposed legislation.

A Utah mom brought the issue to lawmakers after spending years poring over varous scholarly journal articles and other materials regarding the perceived effects pornography might have on the developing minds of young children."
