Sexting Victoria teen girl to be tried on child porn charge

"Girl, 16, faces child porn charge for texting nude photo of another girl

A 16-year-old Victoria girl has been charged with distributing child pornography for sending a picture of another girl by text message on her phone.

The trial of a Victoria-area teen who is facing child pornography charges for allegedly texting a nude picture of another girl without her consent will go ahead before a constitutional challenge, a judge has ruled.

The 16-year-old Saanich girl is facing charges of possession and distribution of child pornography and uttering threats after she allegedly distributed nude pictures of her boyfriend's ex-girlfriend.

Today, a provincial court judge ruled the trial will go ahead this fall, before a related constitutional challenge to the child pornography law will be heard.

The teen's lawyer Christopher Mackie says they are launching a constitutional challenge against Canada's child pornography laws as they apply to people under age, claiming the charges amount to age discrimination."

D R, 41, featured on the BBC Two programme and was helped by presenter Jonnie Irwin to find a lavish home in South Wales so he and his wife Kasia could start afresh.

R, a former university administrator from south-east London, hid his sick crimes from programme producers. Complaints: Outraged viewers voiced their disgust after the programme featuring R (above) was aired on Wednesday at 3pm

Audacious: Father-of-one R demanded a four-bedroom house with period features with at least 15 acres of land overlooking the Welsh valleys."

For some people, the announcement that Greater Manchester Police is to start recording violent assaults on goths, heavy metal fans and members of other easily-identifiable subcultures as "hate crimes" is evidence that the concept of hate crime has Gone Too Far.

Ken Macdonald, the former Director of Public Prosecutions, said on Radio 4's Today this morning that the legally recognised categories of race, religion, disability, sexual orientation and transgender identity represented "lines in the sand", because these were "crimes that threaten social cohesion as a whole and therefore national life." He was worried that extending the notion to members of other groups represented a "watering down" of the concept."

"TWO men who were part of a mob that attacked a paedophile [sic] in the street have been warned they face lengthy jail sentences.

John Sargeant and Stuart Hunt went looking for JP with at least four others after hearing he had abused young girls.

The vigilante gang punched, kicked and hit the 20-year-old with a pool cue in the middle of Bramshott Road, in Southsea, as shocked residents looked on."

NSPCC finds that 33 per cent of child sex offenders in Cumbria are related to their victims

"THE majority of sexual assaults against children are committed by someone they know, new NSPCC research reveals today. And in nearly one in four cases the offender is a member of the child’s immediate family.

Figures obtained by the charity from around half the police forces in England and Wales1 reveal that in just seven per cent of reported sexual abuse incidents last year a stranger was responsible. However, more than seven out of 10 cases involved a relative, friend or someone else close to the child. The remainder were committed by acquaintances."

An uncomfortable truth

How long ago was it that African Americans were thought of as sub-human and dangerous to white people? For centuries they were kept as slaves and endured horrific, inhumane treatment at the hands of many prominent people who were very much in the public eye - based on bigotry, intolerance and myth. Eventually, slavery was abolished, but less than 60 years ago, we had segregated water fountains, bus seating, schools, and bathrooms. Parents tried to keep their children away from African Americans (unless they were maids or chauffeurs), believing that they were dangerous and would bring harm upon them.

Are there differences between these oppressed groups, and people on the registry? Of course. African Americans, Jews, and women have not all committed crimes, sexual or not, upon children or adults. Some have. It just isn't the reason that they faced such intense scrutiny, torment and prejudice. To look at things from a darker perspective, one could probably say that by oppressing African Americans, Jews and women, some crimes were probably prevented - but simply because they were all human."
