APA to correct [sic] manual: Pedophilia is not a ‘sexual orientation’ [the orientated decide that, not you - ask the LGBT community.]

"Pedophilia is not a “sexual orientation,” and erroneous [designed to be so] use of that phrase will be corrected soon in its new manual on mental illnesses [sic], the American Psychiatric Association said Thursday.

The APA’s statement came in response to media inquiries, including from The Washington Times, about an uproar on the Internet that the APA had designated pedophilia as a sexual orientation in its new Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, known as DSM-5 or DSM-V.

About a week ago, a blog called NeonTommy, produced at Annenberg Digital News at the University of Southern California, said the APA had drawn a “very distinct line” between pedophilia and pedophilic disorder in its new manual.

According to the DSM-5, pedophilia [not 'Pedophilic Disorder'] “refers to a sexual orientation or profession of sexual preference devoid of consummation, whereas pedophilic disorder is defined as a compulsion and is used in reference to individuals who act on their sexuality,” NeonTommy wrote.

The item was picked up and circulated on countless other Internet sites. Many bloggers bashed the APA for “mainstreaming” deviance [mmmwwhahaha] and capitulating [reality is just that] to pro-pedophile [sic] groups. Others tied [reconnected] it to gay issues — one wag [?] wrote that it was “time to change the LGBT letterhead to LGBT&P.”

The APA said in its statement that “‘sexual orientation’ [legal term] is not a term used in the diagnostic criteria for pedophilic disorder and its use in the DSM-5 text discussion is an error [sic] and should read ‘sexual interest.’ [reality; and means 'sexual orientation', in reality]”

“In fact, APA considers pedophilic disorder [but, not Paedophilia] a ‘paraphilia,’ not a ‘sexual orientation.’ This error [sic] will be corrected in the electronic version of DSM-5 and the next printing of the manual,” the organization said. The error appeared on page 698, said a spokeswoman.""

Statement of the American Psychological Association Regarding Pedophilia and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5)

"A news release sent Oct. 30 on behalf of the American Family Association mischaracterized the position of the American Psychological Association with respect to pedophilia. The American Psychological Association does not classify mental disorders or publish the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, as the release incorrectly stated.

The American Psychological Association [science?] maintains that pedophilia is a mental disorder [psychiatry]; that sex between adults and children is always wrong [science?]; and that acting on pedophilic impulses is and should be a criminal act [science?]. The American Psychological Association has worked for many years to prevent child sexual abuse [science?] and will continue to do so."

*****

Tijdschr Psychiatr. 2014;56(3):196-200. [Sexual disorders in the DSM-5].

"BACKGROUND:

In DSM-IV-TR, the subject of 'sexual and gender identity disorders' was dealt with in one chapter; in DSM-5, however, the subject is divided into three chapters, namely sexual dysfunctions , gender dysphoria, and paraphilic disorders. AIM: To discuss the above-mentioned changes.

METHOD:

The one-chapter version in DSM-IV is compared with the three-chapter contribution in DSM-5 and the differing criteria are tested for their clinical utility.

RESULTS:

There are minor changes in the chapter 'sexual dysfunctions'. The content of the chapters on 'gender dysphoria' and 'paraphilic disorders' differs substantially from the content of the sections on these subjects in DSM-IV. In the section on gender dysphoria the term 'sex' has been replaced by 'gender' and the term 'identity disorder' has been dropped. With regard to paraphilias, a distinction is now made between a paraphilia and a paraphilic disorder. The DSM-5 makes a new distinction between pathology (paraphilic disorder) on the one hand and other unusual or unconventional non-pathological sexual behavior on the other hand. In the DSM-5 the highly relevant clinical concept 'hypersexuality' has still not been incorporated as a separate category.

CONCLUSION:

In the DSM-5 many parts of the chapters on sexual disorders have been substantially revised."

The Continued Attempted Grooming of Society [sic] to Normalise Paedophilia [sic]

"Why also, are these views being allowed to be aired in public, by those who are known sex offenders? People like Paul Christiano, spokesperson for B4U-ACT and known sex offender. Known sex offenders who are allowed to share their distorted views on public platforms like Blogs, Facebook and Twitter. Sex offenders who try to legitimise what they do. Sex offenders who try to justify, for example, that IIOC is a victimless crime. Sex offenders who are more than happy to try to groom us into believing that everyone has an element of paedophilia in them. Sex offenders who promote all the above, knowing that it is a criminal offence to abuse children. Should sex offenders who try to normalise crimes like this, who try to justify crimes like this by trying to decriminalise their acts, be allowed to speak so freely like this?

Would we allow for example, adult rapists to organise conferences to try to justify and legitimise their acts? Would we let them have a free speech on public platforms like Blogger, Facebook & Twitter to spread their views and argue that they have some sort of mental disorder or that what they have is a sexual orientation that makes them unable to control what they do.. (aaah poor rapists, it's not their fault, it's just the way they are, they can't help it) ?

Of course we wouldn't, so why exactly are we allowing paedophiles and child sex offenders such a public platform?

Isn't it about time that we stopped allowing paedophiles and child sex offenders to have this free-reign public voice to make pathetic excuse after excuse about why they do what they do? After all, no-one puts a gun to their head and tells them to abuse a child, or to download/distribute IIOC, they have self-control like everyone else does. Free speech is one thing, but when it is making up excuses to promote or justify the sexual abuse of children and the actions of the people who abuse them, (either physically or by IIOC), this goes too far."

Recording/Reporting A Complaint (Real Or Not) Is Not A Record Of A Crime

17 October 2013 Last updated at 12:34

Crime falls 7% to record low in England and Wales

"Overall crime figures have fallen to half the peak level recorded in 1995

Crime has fallen 7% to a record low in the last year, the Crime Survey for England and Wales has shown.

There were 8.5m incidents in the year to the end of June, compared with 9.1m the previous year.

The drop comes despite a 9% rise in sexual offences, which was partly driven by the Jimmy Savile revelations [?] of abuse.

Crime prevention minister Norman Baker said England and Wales are safer than they have been "for decades".

The headline crime figure is the lowest since the survey began in 1981, and has now fallen to half its peak level, recorded in 1995.

Savile effect

However, the Office for National Statistics, which collates the survey, said the number of historical sexual offences - those which took place more than 20 years ago - recorded by the police has doubled."

Woman 'had an eight-month sexual relationship with son, 11, of family friend'

The media, (rightly or wrongly), describes anyone who sexually assaults or sexually abuses children under the age of consent as a paedophile. Ignoring the literal translation [literal, where, Richard?] - which we all [sic] know, relates to pre-pubescent children - I have no issues with this."

(Original title - Yes, child abuse victims can be 'predatory')

"If you accuse a person of a criminal offence, which could result in his imprisonment, you should expect to come to court and be questioned about your account, in public."

"There is now such hysteria about sex crime that a grown-up debate about the difficult issues raised by recent court cases is well nigh impossible. The victim lobby, represented by various advocacy and campaigning groups, some with vast PR budgets, aggressively challenges any point of view, which does not accord with its own. This has damaging consequences for liberty and the rule of law."

Predatory Predications

"The keening and wailing from the feministas yesterday after prosecutor Robert Colover performed his duty as an official of the court and disclosed evidence which 'suggests an explanation or partial explanation of the accused's actions' was ear deafening.

Initially, the commentators were baying for the head of Judge Nigel Peters, The Sun describing the expected 'fury' - for their readers did not know of the incident before The Sun published its story; children's charities were quick to pile in behind - Paul Jackson, a junior numpty for the NSPCC described the disclosure as a 'perversion of justice'."

ACCUSATIONS OF VERBAL ABUSE CAN BE AN ABUSE OF FREE SPEECH

"Four simple anecdotes separated by twenty years but by an eon in public attitudes. Anywhere and everywhere are notices where public and employees converge that have the message that “abuse to staff will not be tolerated” or some such similar wording.

“Verbal abuse” is a term that would have been unfamiliar in the swinging sixties. There is remarkably little evidence of its origin but I would venture it arose around the same time as the feminist lobby began to agitate for equal rights in employment etc and became a term commonly used to describe dysfunctional intimate relationships between men and women.

Be that as it may the circumscription around many forms of disagreement especially when police are involved under s.5 using the pretext “verbal abuse” is one that magistrates must openly confront.

The current trends to stifling free speech are singularly wafer thin but put those slices of self censorship in a bundle and it can be more easily recognised how far from the free speech of the 1950s we have travelled. As magistrates we must administer the law as it stands; not as we might wish it to be but we can and should take a broad look at any individual circumstance."

Police chief: If you don’t curb porn, number of sex crimes will rise

"One of the highest-ranking police officials in Scotland has warned that if pornography's effects on the culture are not checked, it will “result in a higher number of victims of serious sexual crime.”

Assistant Chief Constable Malcolm Graham said porn is warping the perceptions of a generation of British children, making young boys more likely to assault girls.

“There is academic evidence [quote, please] coming out to suggest [pornography] is having an impact on how young men in particular perceive relationships and women,” he said.

“We need to change the attitudes, behavior, and perceptions of men to make a difference to that,” he stated. “We also need it make it clear to young people that what they are seeing on a computer screen isn’t real life.” [no shit, Officer Sherlock]"

Weasel Words Do Not Change Reality

28 February 2013, 6.52am AEST

It is NOT child pornography [most is]. It is a crime scene photo [some are, but, so what?]

"Describing child exploitation material [sic] as child pornography risks legitimising a serious criminal offence [how and why?].

Pornography was once banned [?], part of a subterranean culture where photographs, 8 mm films, and books were sold and shared illicitly.

Over the past few decades, however, pornography and erotica have become more accepted [sic] in mainstream Australia.

Furthermore, where the making of pornography was once a commercial concern, now there is a “normalisation” of amateur porn on the world wide web.

Into this mix comes a form of sexual imagery which focuses on children – child exploitation material (CEM) [sic].

Colloquially [sic - legally, you will find, in many jurisdictions], it is known as child pornography, or worse still “kiddie porn” – visual images of children being forced to engage in sex acts [some, not most], including images of children as young as babies being brutally [sic] assaulted.

Name the crime [an image is not a crime] for what it is [IIOC]

More and more those involved in investigating and prosecuting the child abuse offences are strongly arguing against the use of the word “pornography” in this context [that is, because they prefer weasel words, to fog and distort the issues, in their interest]"

Abby Police lead push to stop using the term ‘child porn’

"Says the term ‘child sexual abuse’ should be used instead

If the Abbotsford Police Department gets its way, you won’t hear the terms “child porn” or “kiddie porn” anymore.

The department is now using the term “child sexual abuse,” unless they’re referring specifically to the Criminal Code.

“It just makes sense that the way we talk about issues impacts the way we perceive them and that impacts how we approach them,” says Deputy Chief Len Georke.

“If we want to win the fight against child sexual exploitation, we have to start with honest [sic] language.”"

Means Nothing Until 'Abusive' Goes, As Well

14 January 2013 Last updated at 23:05

'Insulting words' crime ditched

"Theresa May Mrs May told MPs that free speech needed to be balanced with action against widespread offence

The crime of "insulting" someone through words or behaviour, which once led to the arrest of a student for asking a police officer whether his horse was gay, is to be dropped.

Home Secretary Theresa May confirmed to MPs that the government would not seek to overturn a Lords amendment scrapping the ban.

The director of public prosecutions has said it will not hinder his work.

But Labour warned that it could remove protections for minority groups.

Section 5 of the 1986 Public Order Act currently means that "threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour" might be deemed a criminal offence."

Savile abuse revelations [defamations] have led to us helping more victims [sic]

"Many people will have seen or heard about the Jimmy Savile sexual abuse inquiry in the media.

As of early December, the NSPCC and the police have identified more than 450 victims of sexual abuse by Savile,
of which over 80 per cent were children or young people.

Overall, the number of contacts to the NSPCC helpline around sexual abuse, both historic and current, has nearly tripled since the Savile revelations.

This means we can help more historic victims than ever before to finally get the support they need and, crucially, we can also protect children who are at risk right now."

Good Will Hunting After Savile Affair

"Tis the season of good will. Or twas. I couldn't help feeling that the sleigh bells rang a little hollower this time around. Not because Santas were getting the sack (ho! ho!) for not being CRB-checked. No, it was that confirmed child abuse paranoia would reach beyond Santa's grotto."

"Certainly it is this obsession with abuse today from the grotesque to the everyday - projected far enough backwards to be frankly pointless - that trivialises the experience of serious abuse. I shouldn't need to qualify it of course. All abuse is serious isn't it? Abuse is abuse as paedophile obsessives never tire of telling me. But what is abuse when it is so all encompassing? What good does exaggerating its prevalence do for those who really are being abused? Ironically it is those who abuse the notion of abuse that have a case to answer here. It is the irresponsibly hysterical commentators, lobbyists and policy-makers who see abuse everywhere that are really doing the real victims of abuse the most harm."

'ITV Man' - Not A Superhero

 Shoots Bolts Of Dangerous Bullshit

10 December 2012

ITV man says Savile case proves naming alleged sex offenders in press has 'real value'

"The journalist [sic] who exposed the Jimmy Savile child abuse scandal [sic] has revealed: "We didn't do anything the police could not have done themselves." [but they did not, why not Mark?]

Mark Williams-Thomas was behind the ITV documentary "The Other Side of Jimmy Savile" which was aired in October and revealed allegations [INDEED !!!!] against Savile which have led to some 450 possible [ah] victims of the former DJ coming forward.

Speaking to the Sunday Times he revealed how he asked BBC staff if they would mind him picking up a Newsnight investigation into the story which the BBC decided not to air in November 2011. They told him they would not.

The former policeman, 42, has been a journalist [sic] for the last 10 years. He revealed that in the weeks after the broadcast of his ITV documentary he received "serious threats". He told the paper: "I have to take precautions because there are some people out there who are not happy". [well, you are a walking sleazebag - suck the lemons]

Savile was interviewed by police in 2009 over four alleged [ah] indecent assaults at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. Williams-Thomas believes that if Savile had been named publicly then, other victims would have come forward and he could have faced justice while he was alive. [what a fool believes]

He added: "So there is a real value in naming people but we also have to be very careful about how we do that." [no shit, Sherlock - like, wait until they are dead?]

Under new legislation teachers accused of crimes against children now have automatic anonymity untiil they are charged.

Speaking about the impact of the Leveson report on police-press relations, he said: "We've not got to a position where the police are so reluctant to tell you anything. It's gone too far the other way." [towards being civilised?]

Please Don't Close Us Down - We Know We Are Expensive And, Essentially, Useless, But ...

1 Dec 2012 02:00

"Offenders are getting cleverer but so are we" [it's not hard, is it, lads and lasses?]: Inside the high-tech unit fighting the paedophiles [sic]

"The investigators have the bleak task of trawling pictures and video of child abuse [weasel word] for clues that will lead to the arrest of paedophiles [sic]"

"Whether or not paedophiles [sic] ever meet the children, Sgt Lay is clear that sharing images online is already abuse. [weasel word]"

“To anyone who is viewing internet images of children [indecent, we trust?] and thinks that it’s not abuse [weasel word] they should know [?] that every image shared of a child is a child re-abused. [re-weasel word]"

He also explains [!] that an abuser [weasel word] who views images is eventually likely to abuse [weasel word] in person. [Hehe - what was that, Sgt, fat tummy, donut-eating Lay?  - we do not suppose you have any credible evidence, for that claim?]

“It is a pattern that we see – that they are very, very likely [very, very !!!] to move on to video images of abuse and then actual hands-on abuse.” [A pattern? Have you any documentation, available, illustrating this 'pattern', Sgt Lay?]

Mark Williams-Thomas ... Bad, Copper Techniques, Turned Worse

You are no longer a copper, Mark - we require real evidence

November 22, 2012

Trial by Posthumous Innuendo

"Following last night’s episode of ‘Exposure’, the prosecution’s case for the demonisation of Jimmy Savile was completed in the sense that the audience have been invited to give their verdict. No doubt if we fail to give the required verdict, the ‘Ireland v EU’ solution will be applied and we will be given a further installment to wet our appetite for the correct answer. There has been no case for the defence, so all we can do is look at the evidence laid out for us by the televisual prosecutors and see what it amounts to.

The programme opened with the powerful statement ‘We now know that Jimmy Savile was a predatory paedophile [sic] for more than 40 years’.

Not so fast Mr Williams-Thomas! We know that there have been possibly hundreds of allegations that he was – but for those of us looking for facts as opposed to innuendo, we are sitting down waiting for you to make the case to us that he was…"

"I watched last night with an open mind, quite prepared to believe that Savile was a dangerous paedophile that various authorities should have suspected and thus protected children against. Williams-Thomas has had publicity that others could only dream of, ‘hundreds’ of victims coming forward in the wake of his previous programme, hours of television time to develops his theory, and last night was the final result. Along with the rest of the general public, I am invited to draw my own conclusions. The case for the prosecution rests."

Welwyn Hatfield Council’s deputy leader blasted [sic] over his ‘staggering’ handling of Jimmy Savile at Broadmoor

"Cllr Franey, who was chief executive and general manager at the hospital, responded: ““He had had that access for some time. I didn’t see any reason to challenge what he was doing, no reason at all. Quite frankly he had been part of the organisation for many many years long before I was there.”

He also said: “I had no complaints about Savile during my whole time at the hospital from staff or patients about any inappropriate behaviour.

“He could not go anywhere he wanted, he couldn’t go into patients bedrooms.”"

The Jimmy Savile Investigation: Exposure Update, ITV1, review

"Unlike that first Exposure – which was a tour de force [until the facts were revealed], full of new and shocking and direct and cogent allegations of criminal behaviour – this second one really had nothing new to expose at all. It was a narrative of the case against Savile, rather than being evidence of it. That journalistic thinness was a disappointment – but did serve to show what a brilliant job Williams-Thomas and his team had done the first time around. [until the facts were revealed]"

Savile Unravels: Seeing Right Through the Anti-Savile Hysteria

"There is still no compelling evidence – that is, evidence that amounts to proof beyond reasonable doubt (or anything near it) – that Savile was the serious sex abuser as he is portrayed. And we know from similar hysterias in the recent past – notably over what turned out to be the entirely groundless 'satanic sex abuse' supposed paedophile rings with countless 'victims' – that you can get a great multiplying of allegations even in the absence of any truthful basis. What is more, the spurious 'satanic sex abuse' scandals were in respect of alleged events that were current or in the recent past, whereas the events re Savile are decades in the past and therefore very likely to be the result of 'false memories'. The psychology of constructing fabrications of past events is a human universal, and is rife whenever there is a highly salient seed upon which a construction can be made. A famous and larger-than-life individual who had myriad inconsequential encounters with others is almost bound to be the subject of a plethora of 'false memory'-based supposed incidents."

Legitimate Paedophilia - It's That Man Again

Have Cartoons Legitimised Paedophilia in Japan?

"Last month I went to the London Comic Con convention at the Excel centre. If you're not familiar with the concept of Comic Con, then you haven't been reading VICE for the last year or so and you probably don't know what Leonardo Di Caprio or techno music are either, so the whole thing might be a bit lost on you. But, to give you a quick run-through, they're essentially a series of events in cities around the world where people who are into fantasy, video games and basically anything Japanese gather together to dress up as their favourite fictional characters and wear calculator watches from the 90s so they can add up all the new friends they're making."

“It’s important to remember that sexually abusive behaviour [weasel term] can be pretty addictive and habitual," says Jon Brown at the NSPCC. "A basic sexual drive in humans is very hard-wired – it’s very deep in the human brain, along with the desire to eat and seek shelter. When that kind of sexual interest becomes hard-wired to an interest in children, it can be quite difficult to alter.

“Where there's a sexual interest in children, offenders generally know it’s wrong [moral issue, no law, no issue] and have to go through a series of cognitive distortions and mental gymnastics to convince themselves, one way or another, that what they’re doing isn’t so harmful [perhaps, because it rarely is, Jon, evidentially? Who really has the cognitive distortions etc, Jon?]. One way that they'll do that is to use child abuse imagery online, thinking they’re not actually abusing a child, they’re just looking at it – either an animated image or a picture. And, of course, they’re correct [damn right, correct], but our concern at the NSPCC is that it’s the perpetuation of that belief system [the what? read what you said, above] that's damaging for the offenders themselves [bless you]. It can further reinforce their thoughts of sexual interest in children [how?]. It’s not actively abusing a child [damn right], but it perpetuates that kind of mindset [the what? read what you said, above] and the thinking in some way that the behaviour is OK [moral issue, no law, no issue].

“If there's a whole society or community that is implicitly saying that the viewing of sexualised images of children – or worse than that; of children being sexually harmed [straw man Jon ... naughty, naughty] – is in some way OK, then that becomes a pretty strong message. For some people, that's going to seem like the encouragement they need to go further and actually physically abuse children. [always happened, always will, Jon - sexual libertines do not need your 'OK' (or ours) and you said why, above]"
