The Sun on Sunday lied about me last week. Have they learned nothing?

The Sun on Sunday, which is of course the News of the World with a different hat on, lied about me last week.
In the general scheme of things, the crumbling economy, the savaged environment, the treacherous, inept, deceitful politicians that govern us, the corrupt corporations that exploit us, it might not seem like a big deal. That's because it isn't to anyone, except me or my girlfriend. The pain, disruption and distress, that the Sun inflicted by falsely claiming that I cheated on my girlfriend, in the context of such awesome corruption, is a pale liver-spot on the back of Murdoch's glabrous claw. Still though, it's a tiny part of the demon's dermatology and as such, connected to all the other pestilence. Here's how."

Neighbours voice sex-offender fears
"Residents of an Ilkeston street have been reassured by a housing trust and police that known sex offenders have not been living near to them.
Concerned neighbours in part of the town contacted the Advertiser, saying they had been told that a sex offender had moved into a house on their street when a housing association signed a contract to rent the property.
Soon after the house was the target of a vandalism attack.
A neighbour, who cannot be named, said: “We were told that there was a sex offender living in the house and the next day someone vandalised it.
“It’s a massive worry because there are children living at and visiting my house all the time.
“I want to know that there hasn’t been a neighbour taking photographs and looking into my garden where children played all summer .
“We contacted the police and the accommodation provider and they pretty much told us to calm down, but how can you having been told a paedophile could have been living next door?”
When the Advertiser contacted the housing association in charge of the property it said that sex offenders had not, and will not, be living at the address.
A spokesman said: “As a result of a rumour a property was vandalised.
“We did speak to residents at the time.”
Inspector Nick Daines said: “We would urge members of the public not to act on the basis of rumour and local gossip.”
As well as the rumours residents are also concerned about criminals being put up at the address.
“This is a family neighbourhood, it always has been until this came along,” one said.
“We can’t sleep at night, it’s caused me health problems.
“We can’t even let the kids out to play anymore, I want to sell the house but no one will want to buy it with that nearby.”

"It has also been a hard week for someone who doesn’t click links to the Daily Mail, since their business model is one which involves creating hurt and outrage in order to get web traffic. The mail is basically the worlds most successful troll. This week one of its journalists* decided that people might not know you can put search terms into the internet and find things.
@Herasy_corner pointed out Platell was even more full of lies than the usual Mail Journalist as Platell claimed she used the term “cute pussies” and as everyone knows this song is true.

Cumbria police infringed man's human rights, rules High Court judge
"Cumbria police unlawfully infringed a teacher’s human rights by refusing to remove detail of a woman’s harassment allegation from a “criminal record certificate” available to potential employers, a High Court judge has ruled.
The force's decision was a “disproportionate and unjustifiable” breach of the 44-year-old man’s right to private life, enshrined in the European Convention on Human Rights, said Mr Justice Stuart-Smith.
Police had investigated the 18-year-old’s complaint and concluded that “no further action” should be taken and disclosure of the allegation had dealt a “killer blow” to the teacher’s employment prospects, said the judge.
The physical education teacher - who cannot be named for legal reasons - is expected to seek damages.
Mr Justice Stuart-Smith announced his decision in a written ruling after a hearing at the High Court in London in March."

Some undercover police will "almost inevitably" have sexual relationships with members of groups they are infiltrating, the Met chief has said.
Bernard Hogan-Howe told the Home Affairs committee such relationships "shouldn't be part of the strategy".
But, he said, when officers got close to targets it was not "impossible to imagine" that relationships developed.
The Met is being sued by a group of women who have had relationships with undercover officers.
The women came into contact with five undercover officers who carried fake passports and other identity papers and were involved in various undercover operations between 1987 and 2010.
Speaking at the Home Affairs Select Committee meeting, the Metropolitan Police Commissioner said it was up to officers monitoring the deployment of undercover police to spot relationships early or before they began and to move the covert officer out."

X Factor judge Louis Walsh has settled a 500,000 euro defamation action against News Group Newspapers.
The out-of-court deal was reached after the music mogul sued The Sun over a story last year based on a false allegation that he sexually assaulted a man in a Dublin night-spot.
Unemployed dance teacher Leonard Watters was jailed for six months in July for wrongly accusing Walsh of groping him in a celebrity nightclub after a Westlife concert in April 2011.

Former partner’s drinking and drug taking ‘not caused by sex abuse’
"High Court rules that abuse at Jesuit school not to blame for all 'adverse events'
Patrick Raggett, a former salaried partner at Pinsent Curtis, was awarded damages of almost £55,000 at the High Court today, for sex abuse he suffered at Preston Catholic College.
However, the judge, Mrs Justice Swift, said she did not agree that “all the adverse events that had occurred in his life” were caused by the abuse.
“I am well aware that the conclusions I have reached in this judgment will be disappointing to the claimant and that its contents may cause him some distress,” Swift J said.
“This is particularly unfortunate and regrettable since there is no doubt that he was the victim of an insidious form of abuse involving a grave breach of trust and that he has suffered significantly as a result.”"
"In the light of this, she made no award for past or future loss of earnings, or for pension loss. Raggett was awarded damages of £54,900."
