A 13-year-old sexual predator? No. I encountered the real deal last night

Neil Wilson is 41 years old. He took a 13-year-old girl home, allowed her to strip and then engaged in what we must euphemistically refer to as a “sex act” with her. For this and other offences including the possession of eight images of child sexual abuse and eleven sexual images involving horses and dogs, he received an eight-month suspended sentence. But it’s not the lenience of the punishment [sic] that has pushed the case into the headlines. It's the comments of the prosecutor and judge.

The Crown Prosecution Service has disavowed the words used by prosecutor Robert Colover at Snaresbrook crown court as “inappropriate”. That’s far too mild, almost offensively so. Colover told the court: “The girl is predatory in all her actions and she is sexually experienced.” His Honour Judge Nigel Peters said in his judgment: “On these facts, the girl was predatory and was egging you on. That is no defence when dealing with children but I am prepared to impose a suspension.” This should go without saying, but in an encounter between an adult man and a girl of 13, the child is not the predator. Regardless of whether she has been sexualised, she is a victim.

I hadn't thought a great deal about this case before I came into contact with a real predator last night. Popping up in the middle of a conversation on Twitter about my bullying piece, someone called “the OSC” revealed himself (or, less likely, herself) to be a fervent defender of paedophiles [sic]. Not only does this individual have a Twitter account dedicated to obsessively pushing distorted views about children, he also has a blog. One which has been relentlessly updated since April 2012. I've since discovered that OSC stands for "Online Sex-Offender Community".

I’m flagging up this particular example not because it is rare or unusual but because there is a whole network of these sites and accounts across the web. Those who identify themselves as part of the Online Sex-Offender Community are brazen. Their behaviour justifies the scepticism I and many others have shown towards David Cameron’s internet filtering proposals.

One of the measures put forward the Prime Minister and his dotty surrogate on the issue, Claire Perry, is a pop-up to tell those who seek child abuse images that they risk their jobs, their lives and their families by doing so. The existence of sick individuals such as the OSC, operating in the open on social networks, puts paid to the notion that these people can be shamed. Among the OSC’s messages about the Wilson case there are several references to the girl as a “Lolita”.

The existence of these dangerous individuals is the reason we need to spend more money on traditional policing and investigations. It’s also why charities such as The Lucy Faithful Foundation, which works to prevent abuse and deal with offenders and potential offenders, are so important. The brashness of the OSC is yet more evidence that desperately clutching at technical solutions is not the way to deal with this evil."

The sex offender so brazen he's sharing a link to my blog post about him

"Nigel Leigh Oldfield is a convicted sex offender. He is the worst kind [jeez]. An unrepentant one. He is the man behind The OSC (Online Sex-Offender Community) the Twitter account and blog I wrote about earlier this week. He served 12 months in jail for downloading over 11,000 indecent images of children including babies in 2002. Though there are nests of pro-abuse activists online, Oldfield is isolated. He runs a “community” in name only. I am told by those who have studied this sick subculture that even some paedophiles consider him an embarrassment.

The pseudo-intellectual Oldfield is a former chemistry teacher. He styles himself as “Dr Nigel Leigh Oldfield” and has popped up several times on national radio and television. His most notable appearance was on Newsnight in 2007 pompously defending his repellent views. Over and over again he made excuses for viewing images of children being abused. He is the ugly agony uncle of the online child sexual abuse community giving tips on avoiding prosecution and defending the indefensible.

After I wrote about Oldfield and his activity on Twitter, he posted information about me on his latest blog. It is not the first he has run on the topic of defending child sex abuse. Previous sites have been shut down by ISPs. However, he currently has at least three up and running. A quick search also throws up numerous forum posts in which Oldfield defends child sexual exploitation. Here’s one example from a Google Group where he expresses disbelief that a convicted sex offender should be stopped from photographing children in the street. On YouTube, he has posted videos where he complains about the persecution of sex offenders, “isolated and poverty-stricken for no good reason”.

Now, on his OSC blog, where he obsessively documents media reports on child sexual abuse, he has posted: my picture, links to my Twitter account, my personal blog, my online CV and screen grabs of my original article shared on Facebook. The post assures me that I am “small fry” but that I can expect a “full and frank response – when we have finished with bigger and more essential issues”. Given his past record, I won’t pause to imagine what those could be. He’s certainly had time to boast about his renewed notoriety on yet another Google Group.

I don’t believe in naming and shaming sex offenders [ ;) ] or in vigilante actions. I don't want these individuals pushed underground and out of sight. However, Oldfield names and shames himself. Across the internet, he is active in promoting abuse and attempting to dismiss the harm it causes. I have seen the flabby banal face of evil in a YouTube video. This is who the Prime Minister is trying to combat with his current proposals, the kind of offender so thoroughly certain that it is he who has been wronged. Oldfield thinks he is the one sane man in society. He luxuriates in being written about. Ultimately he is “small fry” himself but deeply unpleasant all the same. I know Nigel intends me to feel threatened but I’m not in his usual demographic."

"Microsoft’s Bing search engine has become the first in the world to introduce pop-up notifications for those who decide to seek out child abuse content including child pornography. The system will be launching in the United Kingdom first.

The new system will first notify users that they are searching for illegal content and offer details on available counseling services.

Yahoo, which uses Bing search results, says it may also be implementing a similar technology in the future. Google on the other hand, states that it will continue to report material, but has no plans to use pop-up notifications."

We do not participate in consultations, such as yours (including directly-governmental), as they are, invariably-based, on false, misleading and establishment social control methods; we will not give credence to, by participation in, such farces.

For example, in this case, the incorrect obiter dicta, in Beaney (now, essentially, superseded by Terrell), is a typical example of biased and ill-informed myth (some would say, lies), within such a consultation; for now, we stopped reading, there.

These are the 'facts of the matter', based on actual evidence and research:

1 The Propositions

In this piece, I will work from a number of propositions. Of course, they are much more than that, as they are based on almost 10 years (at least) of thorough research and personal experience.

The propositions, are as follows (others may be added, as I proceed):

(1) Viewing an image, never harmed anyone (seriously or otherwise),

(2) Owning an image, never harmed anyone (seriously or otherwise),

(3) Taking of an image of someone, never harmed anyone (seriously or otherwise),

(4) Selling of an image of someone, never harmed anyone (seriously or otherwise),

(5) An image is a digital representation of an act, which may, or may not, have occurred,

As such, as a collection of dots, it is not a victim of anything; it is not even a valid proof of reality,

(6) An image is only indecent, by the perception of the viewer,

(7) Indecency does not equate to harm (seriously or otherwise), directly or indirectly.

The first stage, for anyone who wishes to challenge (or support) these propositions (or any of the response), is to provide evidence, at this email. The evidence will then be considered and incorporated, if relevant (and credited, as such).

"A reminder that parents wishing to spectate at our sports fixtures MUST be in possession of an up to date Swindon Borough Council CRB check.

If you wish to spectate at a sports event the following procedures apply. Parents wishing to come and spectate regularly at fixtures need to contact Miss Carter.

Miss Carter will send you the relevant links to the CRB site or ask for proof of your current CRB if it is from Swindon Borough Council. (Getting this is free but may take 2-4 weeks)

Once your CRB has been granted you will be able to enter and leave school signing in via reception if you wish to attend a sporting fixture.

"In light of the recent press coverage regarding CRB checks on parents wishing to watch their children play in sports fixtures we would like to issue the following statement:

Parents are more than welcome to attend to watch sports fixtures at Isambard Community School. However, there is no access to the sports pitches through the main school building. Parents are requested to use the Tadpole Lane entrance where there is ample parking. There have previously been issues with parents and other visitors arriving at the Isambard Way entrance and being annoyed to be asked to drive to Tadpole Lane. However, we are unable to allow visitors access through the school during the normal school day, which includes the enrichment time between 3:15pm and 6pm. We hope this clarifies the school’s position."

Sports college bans parents from watching competitive matches because of ‘child protection rules’ 

"In a letter to parents from Laura Hunt, the director of physical education at the comprehensive school, she said that parents and carers were banned from the school grounds during home matches against other schools.

She said: “We appreciate that parents/carers may wish to come along and watch and support their children. 'However, as a school staff, we have a duty of care to our students and have to ensure that appropriate safeguarding and children protection policies are adopted, implemented and monitored.

'As such, for our students’ safekeeping, we must state that we cannot permit parents/carers or other adults on site at these times, and hope that you will understand and support us in this decision.'"

As The OSC gets a mention, it is our legal and ethical responsibility, to report the developments at TPP, so that the authories and the vulnerable may be aware.

As usual, even though they have committed themselves to being public figures, they fear open and balanced, challenge and scrutiny, only allowing login access, to their tiny, groupthink, cabal ... we are only able to archive and report what surfaces in public.

We have little doubt, that they will not be able to resist 'going public', in the future; for now, this will suffice.

SOCA sued over Sun 'paedophile leak'

"A retired musician who won damages from The Sun after being branded a paedophile is now taking on the Serious and Organised Crime Agency.

GG says The Sun wrongly claimed he was a paedophile [really?] who had been deported from Thailand after SOCA supplied the paper with his name and passport photo.

The article led him to fear for his life, he says, claiming the allegation was untrue and that he was deported from Thailand in July 2010 after being convicted of remaining in the country without a valid visa.

Sun publisher News Group Newspapers (NGN) later accepted the allegation was untrue and agreed to publish a correction and pay “substantial” damages to G.

He is now suing SOCA for damages of £50,000 and wants to make a statement in open court claiming the organisation breached his human rights.

The March 2011 story – headlined “Smashed: World’s biggest paedo ring” [sic] – claimed he had been arrested by the Operation Rescue investigation into child sex offences.

G, 67, says SOCA’s actions caused him significant distress, anxiety and humiliation.

In a High Court writ, he claims a police officer from SOCA acted without checking the accuracy of the claims and that the body failed to appropriately respond to his complaint.

SOCA replied to his solicitors in March 2012 saying he had recently been charged with possessing indecent images, and querying how these criminal proceedings would impact on his civil claim.

G says he had not been charged with any offence, and that the suggestion he had been was extremely upsetting and distressing. SOCA, he argues, has never apologised or retracted the allegations."
