BBC DJs put on 'Savile Lockdown' at Teen Awards: Stars forced to have chaperones as parents told not to let children give mobile numbers to staff

>Every adult at awards banned from moving around Wembley Arena alone,
>Source: 'Security staff even waited outside while we visited the bathroom',
>Corporation has updated consent form banning exchange of personal details.

"The BBC placed staff at its Radio 1 Teen Awards under draconian restrictions to prevent presenters being accused of sexual misconduct with minors.

All adults – including the station’s star DJ Nick Grimshaw – were banned from moving around Wembley Arena without a security guard and even needed an escort for visits to the lavatory.

The rules were so stringently enforced that guests referred to them as ‘Savile Lockdown’, in reference to the late paedophile [sic] BBC DJ Jimmy Savile."

“Long-Range Rape”

Child pornography: collateral damage

"Three Irish men were identified this week by an international sting operation as having tried to access online child pornography. What fate awaits perpetrators and their families?

Catastrophic consequences: 90 per cent of the people who carry out online child abuse are loving fathers, uncles, brothers and sons."

" Whichever way they react, “Families are blown apart by this. It creates absolute havoc. People take sides. Families react in exactly the same way as they do when they discover that their child has been sexually abused or that their husband, father or son is a perpetrator of child sex abuse,” says Ellen O’Malley-Dunlop, the chief executive of Dublin Rape Crisis Centre.

John’s partner reacted with anger and rejection and got a court order preventing him seeing his children unsupervised. His employer put him on sick leave, then encouraged him to take voluntary redundancy. “People didn’t want to know me,” he says.

As gardaí swept through the house that morning, confiscating every device that might hold information, including the children’s toys and games, he felt utter despair. He didn’t know who had tipped them off, but he recalled his partner leaving his laptop open on the kitchen table, with a “child pornography” image on it – perhaps her way of saying she knew. The Garda found 2,000 images of “child pornography” on the device. John did not see his children again for months. When he eventually did, access was supervised.

John says he has never sexually abused a child in “real life”, and never would."

"Shockingly stupid" arsonist who killed paedophile [sic] by setting fire to his flat jailed for 10 years

"The victim had five convictions for gross indecency and indecent assault in the 1980s and 1990s against boys aged between 14 and 17.

A man who admitted killing a convicted sex offender in a flat fire has been jailed for 10 years.

Daniel Martin, 25, set fire to a wheelie bin and pushed it up against the front door of AH's flat in Worcester in the early hours of December 14, 2011, sparking a rapidly spreading and ferocious blaze in which the 52-year-old was killed.

Sentencing Martin for manslaughter at Birmingham Crown Court, Mrs Justice Thirlwall said the crime was "shockingly stupid" (NS Sherlock].

She said he had intended "to do something so frightening, it would cause him (H) to move away from the area where he had lived since 2001".

"You say you threw stones at his window to try and wake him and say you saw a light come on," she added.

"Whatever you did, it was too little too late.

"You say your intention was only to frighten the victim and the prosecution accept you did not intend to kill or attempt to cause really serious harm."

She added she was "not satisfied" Martin was a danger to the public [really, wiggy?], but he "was a liar and thoroughly anti-social", with a lamentable record of previous convictions, albeit not for similar offences."

Sex Offenders, Experts Question Effectiveness of New Restrictions

"Are sex offender laws preventing the men and women convicted of these crimes from becoming productive members of society?

Yes 81.6%
No 18.4%

After serving their time, some sex offenders can be on another list for the rest of their lives.

Convicted sex offenders are required to register with their local law enforcement office for at least 15 years, often much longer than that.

Now some registered sex offenders and their families are saying this branding is doing more harm than good.

"Sam," a registered sex offender who asked to have his identity concealed, calls every day a battle.

"No sooner did we move and the house was getting egged," he says. "They spray-painted on the porch that I need to move. Why keep attacking me?"

Another registered sex offender we'll refer to as "C," says he sees the same struggles.

"Two kids in the area accused me of fondling them," C says. "You want to crawl into a hole and you're afraid."

The Arkansas House of Representatives passed legislation earlier this year prohibiting level three and four sex offenders, considered the most likely to re-offend, from swimming areas and playgrounds in state parks.

They also can't live within 2,000 feet of any school, day care, public park or youth center.

These men say the restrictions, along with the sex-offender stigma, make it nearly impossible to find a steady job and safe place to live."

Williams-Thomas to talk Jimmy Savile Exposé in Birmingham

"Investigative journalist Mark Williams-Thomas will face questions [not many of value, we wager] on his expose of Jimmy Savile – and the seismic consequences of this one explosive story which lifted the lid on shocking abuse and exploitation later this month. [really?]"

"The ITV correspondent will be interviewed by fellow investigating journalist Donal MacIntyre, a visiting professor at Birmingham City University.

An icon has been demonised, national institutions have been shaken to their very foundations and a massive police investigation launched – at times, even journalism itself has been put on trial. All this the direct result of one journalist – my colleague and fellow academic Mark Williams-Thomas.

When Mark first exposed the [alleged] truth behind Jimmy Savile, even he couldn’t have predicted the full aftermath that would follow. It was a brave decision to break the original story, which became one of the most important news revelations of a generation. - Donal MacIntyre"
