Reid and Blunkett warn Miliband on policy

"Ed Miliband came under fire from two of Tony Blair’s closest advisers at the weekend as pressure mounted on the Labour leader from some of the most high-profile members of the last Labour government.

David Blunkett and Lord Reid, who were both home secretary under Mr Blair, on Sunday urged Mr Miliband to do more to show his party was a government in waiting.

Mr Blunkett wrote in The Observer newspaper that Labour “cannot and should never be simply [about] the avoidance of the most obvious injustice. It has to be about a great deal more than politics built on grievance and the unhappiness of a resentful and selfish public sphere”.

Lord Reid, meanwhile, told the BBC: “You have to move from being a voice of protest to offering solutions as you move from being an effective opposition to a potential government.”"
