What A Silly Twitter!

"NO LAUGHING MATTER: DPP Keir Starmer, who personally overruled Crown Prosecution Service lawyers to pursue a case against a man who had made a dim joke on Twitter

PRESS officers working for the Crown Prosecution Service are spinning like so many Olympic gymnasts as they try desperately to protect the reputation of their boss, the director of public prosecutions (DPP) Keir Starmer, from the PR disaster of the Twitter Joke Trial.

Ever since the CPS charged Paul Chambers for making a bad joke about blowing up Robin Hood Airport if he could not fly to see his girlfriend, its lawyers have been the target of anger and mockery. Al Murray, Stephen Fry and tens of thousands of Twitter users protested against its authoritarian determination to give Chambers a criminal record for tweeting: "Crap! Robin Hood airport is closed. You’ve got a week and a bit to get your shit together otherwise I’m blowing the airport sky high!!” "
