Man who murdered 'paedophile' neighbour by setting him on fire is jailed for life
"John McHale - who had served time for child sex offences - was kicked, stamped and strangled with a ligature by his neighbour David Platt after he refused to tell him his PIN number.
A man who killed the ‘paedophile next-door’ by burning him alive has been jailed for life.
John McHale - who had served time for child sex offences - was kicked, stamped and strangled with a ligature by his neighbour David Platt after he refused to tell him his pin number.
Mr Platt, who had already robbed the 57-year-old victim of his bank card, returned to his room where he lay unconscious, doused his groin and head with white spirit, and set him alight.
Platt, 39, who lived in the room next-door to McHale at Syl’s Guesthouse, a hostel for ex-offenders in Audenshaw, has now been jailed for thirty years for the ‘sadistic’ March 1 murder."
